18 October 2008 annual Stockholm Kendo Open International Tournament occurred. Gekken-Club kendoka’s had also participated the Tournament. 6 sportsmen from St.-Petersburg altogether went to Stockholm:

- Lozhkina Elena, “Shiten” Club
- Magnushevskii Alexey, “Shiten” Club
During the Tournament there were conducted 4 Cups: Junior Cup, Ladies Cup, Kyu-Cup and Dan-Cup. Our ladies had a possibility to participate two Cups: Ladies Cup and Dan-Cup; men took part only in Dan-Cup Tournament.
As a whole more then 100 kendoka’s from 13 countries participated Stockholm Kendo Open. Dan-Cup exactly gathered most of participants – 79 kendoka’s. Sensei also had fought in the Tournament: Kazuo Yamazaki Sensei, Mitsuyoshi Aoki Sensei, Mats Wahlqvist Sensei. We were surprised about it and had a great pleasure, because we received a possibility to fight in the shiai with 7 Dan Sensei!
St.-Petersburg kendoka’s battled with great dignity. Kurumi was the best of us – she won the 1st prize among Ladies. Unfortunately, other our guys couldn’t get further then ¼ final.
