From august 22 to 26, Igor Kalashnikov and Miguel Ullivarri from our Federation traveled to Brussels, Belgium to participate in the last “Kendo summer seminar and the 16 Tamiza Kendo cup”. The seminar was lead by Hirakawa Nobuo Sensei, 8Dan kyoshi, professor of Meiji University, official coach of the Belgium Kendo team, who for the last 20 years as been head of this event, and Nakamura Teruo sensei, Kyoshi 7Dan, member of Goodwill Kendo Federation.
More then 100 people joined the activities form all Europe. Practice started at 06:30 mornings, and then evenings after 19:00. Tamiza cup, took place on Saturday 25, right after of the “referee seminar”. Representatives from 14 countries participated in match team of 3 competitors each. This it was the first time when a Russian delegation participated in Tamiza cup.
After the competition, it was held Kendo examination to 1-5 Dan. Igor Kalashnikov and Miguel Ullivarri applied to 3Dan, and both passed the examination. Also our friend and colleague from Sweden, Nils Bjorkegard passed his 5Dan.
We want to thanks to Serge Hendrickx, secretary of Belgium Federation for all his help, to Daniel Delepiere and Emilio Gomez Sensei, to Raf Bernards, secretary of European Kendo Federation and organizer of Tamiza cup, to my great friend Serge Boffa, and of course to Hirakawa Nobuo and Nakamura Teruo Sensei for they kindness and charismatic way to teach us Kendo; to all the Sensei from Belgium, France and Italy, and to all the Kenshi who gathered from many regions; they are a really nice community with a high spirit of Kendo.
We really hope that next time more of us will visit such a great seminar.
